Butterfly Japanese Maple is a small deciduous tree with a graceful, cascading form with delicate, lacy foliage. The leaves are deeply lobed and have a variegated pattern of green, white, and pink, resembling the wings of a butterfly. In the fall, the leaves may develop shades of yellow, orange, or red.  Grows best in partial shade to full sun conditions and thrive in well-drained, slightly acidic soil.

    MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance.  Water regularly.  Mulch in southern climates to keep roots cool.  Keep pruning to a minimum and prune in fall or winter.  Potential issues include stem canker, leaf spots, fusarium, wilt, botrytis, anthracnose, and root rots.  Potential insect pests include aphids, scale, borers, root weevils, and mites.  Chlorosis may occur in high pH soils
