Balmy Lilac Bee Balm is a compact native herbaceous perennial with aromatic toothed dark green foliage.  The bold lilac fringe-like flowers bloom in whorls at the top of the thick stems from late spring through summer and attract bees and butterflies.  Best in full sun and well-drained soil.  Flowers attract bees and butterflies.  Mildew resistant variety.

Monarda didyma is a native host for several moths, including Gray Marvel and Hermit Sphinx.  The flower nectar also attracts other pollinators, bees, butterflies, and the Ruby-Throated hummingbird.
