  • Description

Sum and Substance Hosta is a large shade-loving herbaceous perennial primarily grown for its foliage.  The huge heart-shaped basal leaves are deeply veined and open chartreuse-green and mature to golden.  Small bell-like pale-lavender flowers raise up in terminals from the green rootstalk above the mound in mid-summer attracting butterflies.  Best bloom in partial sun and moist well-drained soils.  Sum and Substance resist slug damage.
