Eucalyptus neglecta 'Big O' ~ Big O Eucalyptus Tree

Big O Eucalyptus Tree is a small evergreen tree with a broad upright habit and is quickly becoming the most popular cultivar in the States.  Its large aromatic foliage has two stages: its juvenile stage is a vivid blue-green with rounded foliage on squared stems that that earn a red cast in cooler weather and lasts for 7-15 yrs, and at maturity elongates and earns purple hues in cool weather.  inconspicuous clusters of white summer flowers.  Eucalyptus is unpicky about soils, and can even take boggy soils if planted in full sun.  Big O is valued for its heat, disease, and pest resistance and is drought tolerant once established.  Has strong shade tolerance

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Very Low Maintenance.  Some susceptibility to armillaria, Gray Mold, Powdery Mildew, and Collar Rot.  Potential pests include Crown Gall, Stem Galls, While Aphids, Scale Insects.  Note: Eucalyptus is allelopathic and many plants will not grow under its canopy.
