  • Description

Francis Mason Glossy Abelia is a compact evergreen shrub with a rounded habit and red stems that turn brown as they mature.  The small variegated leaves emerge with a coppery cast that turn green with bright lemon yellow margins and mature to dark green with yellow edging before returning to copper in fall.  The small, lightly fragrant white and pink flowers bloom on new wood from mid summer to mid fall, attracting bees and butterflies.  Best foliage color in full sun and rich, moist, well-drained soils.  Very drought tolerant once established.
